Maybe you are fortunate enough to be a morning person. I am not. Even if I naturally wake up early, I still have a very hard time dragging myself out of bed. However, I strive to find new ways to get myself up and at ‘em so that I can make the most out of my day. Here are some helpful tricks that get me going in the morning on the days that the bed feels extra comfy:
Don’t reach for your phone right away. Social media can become a black hole when you are avoiding getting out of bed. Don’t allow yourself to procrastinate dealing with the day by updating Facebook a gazillion times. Nobody has anything that interesting to post early in the morning.
Play some upbeat music. Listening to music with a driving bass and heavy drums often helps me to wake up in the morning and feel motivated.
Don’t get dressed into clothes that feel like pajamas. This seems a little silly but has actually helped me. I have a lot of T-shirt dresses in my closet, partially because they feel so comfy (kind of like a nightgown). On the days that I have a hard time getting out of bed, it’s much better for me to put on some jeans and a button down shirt than one of my T-shirt dresses. I’m less tempted to collapse back onto my bed if I’m wearing something that couldn’t pass as PJs.
Becoming a morning shower-er. Okay, so I know that everyone has their stances on when to shower and why their way is best. That’s perfectly fine. However, if getting motivated in the morning is a huge problem for you, consider switching to taking showers in the morning. The water will quickly wake you up and refresh you.
Go outside. Sit outside to eat your breakfast or go on a walk. Exposing yourself to sunlight will help your bodyclock and cause you to wake up a bit more.
