One thing that I love about late summertime is that you feel this sort of anticipation for what’s to come. Lazy summer days are coming to an end as students prepare for back to school, parents rejoice at a few more quiet hours during the day, and the seasons change right before our eyes! I love the crisp welcome that autumn brings and excitement for all the holidays on the way.
Sometimes, I forget to truly embrace those last days of summertime. I miss out on the cookouts, lawn games, golden sunsets, and warm breezes because I am so focused on prepping for the next season. Today I wanted to share a few ideas on how you can embrace all that these late summer days have to offer.
The first thing that I like to do before the season comes to a close is make a list of all that I had wanted to accomplish but haven’t yet. Personally, I really wanted to go swimming this summer and would you believe that I haven’t gotten to get in a pool yet? Another thing that I want to do before the weather cools off is get some more use out of a new pair of shorts and a sundress!
I also really want to make a few more summer dishes like roasted corn salad, BBQ chicken, or something on the grill. Yum!
Another thing that I want to do before the summer ends is finish my reading list. I’m almost done! You can check out what our team is reading right here.
Finally, before the autumn season starts, I’d like to go out for one more ice cream cone! I love ice cream and I’m not sure why but in the summer it feels like the calories don’t count as much, am I right? I know that totally isn’t true, but c’mon. One more ice cream cone. Waffle cone please!
What are your “must do’s” before the summer is over?
