I'm going to start this post by being very transparent. I occasionally suffer from house-envy. You know, when you're going for a walk and pass by this gorgeous brownstone or drive by a beautiful ranch or a quaint house in the country, or even visit a friend who has more square feet than you do, and you start to wish you were blessed with that good fortune, too. Not that you aren't grateful, but your place is just... eh.
Today I want to give you a couple of ideas on how you can learn to love your space; size, wall color, carpet and all! With an open mind and a little creativity you'll learn to love the space you're in.
1. Hang something on the wall! If you're able to hang up some pictures, a clock, or a mirror, you'll start to see your bedroom or living room in a new light. The door to many decorating possibilities will be opened. So why not finally frame those prints from your wedding, or your family reunion, or your favorite art work from local artists and display them for all to see?

2. Throw Pillows. Whether you're trying to spruce up your bedroom, guest room, or living room throw pillows are a huge help. They can give the element of comfort, a pop of color, or even a whimsical design to the beige carpet and white wall you're currently dealing with.
3. Plants. If you have babies or pets, you'll want to keep them up high, but plants can not only add a pop of color to a room but they can also purify the air! A Cactus or Succulent garden can add a whimsical twist, while an orchid or potted flower can add color and class. Check out your local garden supply store or florist for some ideas!
4. Fun Furniture. My husband and I found a really great couch set that is velvet and a deep magenta. They're definitely unique and comfortable too! Head to Ikea, vintage or antique shops, or yard sales to find unique pieces that look good in your home. It takes a little bit of searching and price comparing, but you can find some really great things like this duvet cover from Ikea or this chair from Target without spending a ton of money!
You can also do a DIY project to give things an even more personal feel. We have a towel cart and a hutch that both got a little cleaning and paint jobs and they're completely different pieces! A little creativity and elbow grease can go a long way.
