Today, we're interviewing Rebeca who writes poetry under the name Blend My Love. We loved having her as a sponsor at our last Small Business Owners Dinner. Keep scrolling to learn more about her passions and how she uses poetry in her life + community!
Oakmoss Collective: What is your creative business?
Rebecca: I am a poet based in Lowell, MA. I write poetry to uplift and encourage others under the name "Blend My Love".
OMC: How did it get started?
R: Blend My Love will be five in October. It has evolved from a personal blog to a poetic journal. Only recently have I decided to take the next step and create poetic prints to encourage others.
OMC: Where does inspiration come from for your art and writing?
R: I love being in the woods or near the ocean. I have a great love for flowers and birds! They remind me of growth and freedom.
I struggle with anxiety and depression from time to time. My faith in God's Word strengthens me to share that vulnerability and create a poem based on His truth.
OMC: Any exciting projects coming up that you can share about?
R: Currently, I am working on a chapbook, a few collaborations with other poets, and reading poetry at local events.
OMC: That's so exciting! Collaborating and sharing poetry at different events is a great way to get your business involved with local community. What does community mean to you and how have you seen it help your business grow?
R: Community to me means a group of people who support one another. Their focus is on helping each other grow through collaborations and spreading the news of upcoming events. Most importantly, they have a desire to see people in their community or same field of interest succeed.
OMC: Any tips or advice you'd give a new writer or small business owner just starting out?
R: There will be days of doubt. As well as fear. But don't allow it to rob you of opportunities to share what gift you have to offer the world.
Rebeca, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and advice with us and other writers!
We love your work and having you as a part of the creative community. Keep pursuing your passions!
